Some of the things we did between Mar 2011 and Feb 2012:
Rainbows
have had another fun filled year. The girls worked towards their ‘Roundabout
The World’ Badges doing activities such as: making a Rainforest mural, looking
at energy saving using windmills, then making a windmill, looking at how we can
save electricity, and making Fruity fun healthy snacks with fresh fruit and
yoghurt.
Activities and Crafts throughout the year included: a Team Work Evening, an Animal Theme Evening, making Bunny Bookmarks, making Mother’s Day Cards, making Easter Chick Masks, making Easter Cards, an Easter Egg Hunt, making Father’s Day Cards, a Garden Games Evening, making a cartoon collage, making jigsaws, making Rainbow Hangers, decorating T-shirt, a Cat and Mouse Theme Evening incl. making cat finger puppets, Hand painting, decorating mugs, a Penguin Theme Evening incl making igloos out of mini marshmallows, making Father Christmas Cards, making Stained Glass Baubles, making Flower Calendars, decorating Chinese New Year Fans and an Italian Evening where the girls made their own pizzas!
They started their ‘On Your Marks’ badges, doing the Culture section first, incl. making Brazilian Carnival Floats from wine boxes and parading them and modelling clay pots.
In October the girls took part in their own Tickled Pink Fashion Show, they modelled the t-shirts they had decorated and an all pink outfit, parents were invited and refreshments served. This was done to raise money for the Tickled Pink Campaign.
The Rainbows enjoyed a Summer party at Crash, Bang, Wallop with 6th Aldridge Brownies and a Christmas party in their meeting place.
In conjunction with Aldridge in Bloom we joined with some other Rainbows, Brownies and Guides to plant trees on Anchor Meadow in Aldridge.
A number of the girls filled shoeboxes with Christmas gifts for ‘Operation Christmas Child’ a charity that sends boxes out to children abroad who would otherwise not get any Christmas presents.
In December the Rainbows, Brownies and Guides entertained people in the centre of Aldridge by carol singing.
